Test driving the RZR 500 +, Lithium May 03, 2012 When I first saw my first GIO bike a little over a year ago, I had no idea how much they would change my life, but I should not have been so surprised that they could. Well change has to start somewhere, and this one led me into a whole new realm, the realm of alternative energy and the joy of passing right by the petro-parasites, and it was a real eye-opening experience, one that might even change your world too. My first GIO bike was a used PB 710 that I drove around for a few months, sold for the same money and went up to the more powerful 800+, which I put over 2,000 kilometers on before I sold it and moved up to my favorite GIO bike yet: The RZR 500+. Again, I never lost a dime on the 800+ and that allowed me to slide up to my... Test-driving the GIO, PB-710 May 03, 2012 The first time ever saw the PB-710 GIO brand e-bike, I knew I had to have one… or more… One of the most endearing features of all e-bikes, classified under Canadian law as a “Power assisted bicycle” (because they “Must have pedals”) is the fact that you do not need a driver’s license, plates, or insurance to operate one. This is great for people like me who are all too-often challenged in those areas… but make no mistake about it. Some over-policed provinces are out to wreck that for us too. And speaking of Ontario, Windsor, home of Canada’s first D.U.I. charge on an e-bike, is where I actually rode my PB-710 for the 1st time. All compliments of my good buddy, Johnny Harris,... SINGING IN THE RAIN Mar 20, 2012 SINGING IN THE RAIN: A SOAKING WET ROAD TEST OF THE GIO 2012 RZR 500 WATT LITHIUM-ION E-BIKE By Danny A. Halmo Now I ain’t much of a singer, but I have been singing the praises of my apple green 2012 RZR 500 watt, lithium-ion e-bike ever since I got it, and this is my third GIO bike to date. Originally from a suburb near Detroit City, I was a born-and-raised, dyed-in-the-wool car guy all my life. But prosperous times and real estate values there went south as the price of gas has headed north, so I said screw it, and followed the sunset so far west that I now find myself a lot closer to the east, where the sun supposedly rises. Weird. Lots of Asian people out here in B.C. But guess where over 98 % of all electric vehicles... TO “E” OR NOT TO “E”: THAT IS THE QUESTION Mar 20, 2012 TO “E” OR NOT TO “E”: THAT IS THE QUESTION. IS AN E-BIKE RIGHT FOR ME? By Danny A. Halmo The old quote “It is better to have loved than lost, than to never have loved at all” came to mind immediately that day I saw my first GIO bike. Because all I knew was that I was in love again, finally, and it truly was love at first sight, even if it only had two wheels instead of two, well, you know… other nice round soft things. I had never even heard of an e-bike before that beautiful spring day, innocently sitting there enjoying a cup of coffee at McBurney’s outdoor café patio in downtown Langley City, British Columbia, where they make a lot of movies. But there went one,... TORTURE TESTING THE GIO 52 C.C. CHAINSAW: Feb 14, 2012 TORTURE TESTING THE GIO 52 C.C. CHAINSAW: Author: Danny A. “Hurricane” Halmo… Action Figure… I must admit that I had long been sceptical about 2 things: 1) Any economically-priced, gas-powered tool that was made in China, and 2) My ability to write a fair, un-biased assessment of one. Because, since I was born and raised around Detroit, a U.A.W. town, where the automobile was invented, I was encouraged to maintain a Hunter S. Thompson type perspective of fear and loathing towards anything that could be perceived as a threat to our “American Way.” But that “Way” has fallen by the wayside anyway, all by itself, because our times they are a-changing, and we need the maximum value... |
